Gwendolyn B. Sinclair

Gwendolyn B. Sinclair, Quilter, Designer, and Teacher

Gwendolyn B. Sinclair is a Newport News, Virginia resident. She is a charter member of 54-40 African American Quilters Guild, and began quilting in 1993 after attending a workshop on African American quilter's, at the Newsome House Museum in Newport News.

Ms. Sinclair is a seamstress and craftsperson, but had considered quilting too time consuming and traditional patterns not that interesting. Upon discovering the range of quilting styles and techniques, she became inspired to quilt using her sewing machine.

Ms. Sinclair enjoys sewing and uses a variety of techniques in her quilts and quilted pieces. Because she does employ these different techniques in her pieces, one could say she truly is a fiber artist.

Below is a sample of my work.
