After she completed her third bed quilt Sandra enrolled in her first quilting class. Honing her craft by taking classes and keeping up on the latest techniques helps her to continue to have fresh ideas and to be creative. She draws inspiration from nature, life experiences and from her background in art. Sandra holds a BA degree in Fine Art from Hampton University. She gave up her small craft business which included bridal crafts, floral arrangements, and other arts and crafts in order to devote more of her limited time to quilting. Sandra’s quilting has evolved into small wall hangings and Art quilts. She has won numerous ribbons for her work and one ribbon for best in show. Her husband, Darryl fully supports her and is an Honorary member of the 54-40 AAQG. (What would we do for a computer expert if not for him?)
All of the new babies in the family get a crib or bed size quilt. Her Grandchildren each have a quilt made by Grandma. Sandra gets her experience making traditional quilts this way otherwise it is Art quits.
