As a quilting guild one of our goals is to keep the art of quilting alive and to use quilts and quilting as an avenue to improving our community and helping children and adults to learn how to quilt. As a result, we have done many things in our local community both as a guild and individually to promote quilting.

Quilts and blocks donated

· Quilt blocks were donated by members to the Little New England Chapel in Hampton,   Va. This is the oldest African American Church in Hampton.
· We made quilts to two of our founding members, now deceased as well as other members who were shut in due to illnesses.
· Over a dozen quilts were donated to senior citizens in an adult home
· Several members have taken children and other adults under their “wings” and taught them to quilt.

· Different members have conducted workshops at:

1. Norfolk State University
2. Riverside Elementary School, Newport News
3. Tidewater Quilter's Guild
4. Peninsula Piecemakers Quilt Guild
5. Vacation Bible Schools
6. The Newsome House Museum, Newport News,  Va
7. Art Atrium Gallery, Portsmouth, Va.
8. Jubilee on the James festival
9. Frances Land House Museum
