Geraldine
Wright
New York City native, Geraldine Wright, who now resides in Hampton, made her first quilt at the age of eleven using old clothes and fabric scraps. She became interested in quilting while listening to stories told to her by her mother. Although her mom’s quilting was borne out of a functional necessity, it was enough to encourage Geraldine to begin taking structured quilting classes in 1995. Geraldine loves machine piecing, fabric dyeing and hand work, but bed quilts are her first love. She enjoys incorporating beading, African fabrics, fibers and dyes into her quilts and is currently studying the symbols and techniques of West African textiles. Geraldine also enjoys teaching children about the art of quilting and working on charity projects.
