Goldie Fields
.

Goldie Fields, now
resides in Hampton, VA, was born and raised in the small town of Port Arthur, TX. In high school, Goldie’s interest was in home economics, clothing design, and art appreciation. She began making her own clothes in high school and her talents expanded into
crocheting and quilting.
Goldie has her grandmother to thank for her quilting skills. It was she who
encouraged Goldie to save all of those sewing scraps and showed her how to put
them together to make hand quilts. So, reflecting back to those happy times
with her grandmother, it was no wonder that she developed a renewed interest in
quilting and getting ready for a new life in community service.
In October 2007, Goldie joined the Red Hat Society and the Peninsula Piece Makers Quilt Guild. It was then that one of her Red Hat Society sisters and a friend introduced her to the 54-40 African-American Quilters Guild of Hampton, VA – the rest is history. Nice named the “Quilt Monster” by family and friends, making quilts provides a creative outlet, feeds her soul with ideas, and takes her to new places of learning. While on this wonderful journey of creating with fabric, Goldie’s hope is to achieve Art Quilting and transporting photos into fabric images.
