Sandra F. Randolph
Sandra was born and raised in Washington, DC
and educated in the public schools there. She learned to crochet, knit,
embroider and play the piano – all of the things that a proper young lady should
know how to do. Sandra always liked quilts too, but no one in her family was
quilting. Quilting did not start until later in her life. After completing her
third bed quilt, she enrolled in her first quilting class. Her quilting
has evolved from strictly hand quilting full-sized bed quilts made of
traditional quilt fabrics, to machine-quilted lap quilts, and wall hangings.
She loves to make Art quilts as well as Wearable Art quilted clothing of bold
colors with Ethnic fabrics. She has won numerous ribbons for her work including
two for best in show.
Sandra continues to hone her craft by taking classes on the latest techniques
which help her to continue to have fresh ideas and to be creative. She draws
inspiration from nature, life experiences, and her background in art. She holds
a BA degree in Fine Art from Hampton University.
Her husband Darryl fully supports her quilting activities.
